Movies you can Legally Watch Online for Free

There are lots of sites where you can watch movies online for free some legally, some illegally. Now if like me you are not overly bothered by the latest big budget release but enjoy discovering older movies there is a little phrase worth knowing "Fallen into Public Domain" which simply means that there are movies which are no longer protected by copyright and are available to watch legally online or download for watching later. A great source for these movies is the Internet Archive where they have an impressive collection of old movies which are free to watch online and download and a few more recent short and independent movies as well. But you can also watch movies here on The Movie Scene where you can also read reviews on those movies.

Wife and Auto Trouble

Wife and Auto Trouble (1916)   3/53/53/53/53/5

14 mins     Comedy

It never fails to amaze me how much is crammed into these old silent movies as in just the 14 minutes which "Wife and Auto Trouble" runs it has comedy, characters as well as some entertaining stunts and special effects. Now I...

The Rink

The Rink (1916)   3/53/53/53/53/5

20 mins     Comedy

One of the attractions of watching early Charlie Chaplin movies is not so much that they are entertaining, which they certainly are but also to watch the evolution of the comic genius. And "The Rink" is a great example of Cha...

My Wife's Relations (1922)   3/53/53/53/53/5

22 mins     Comedy

Buster Keaton was a comedy genius, a master of delivering slapstick and visual gags, unfortunately "My Wife's Relations" is not the best movie to demonstrate that genius. But "My Wife's Relations" is a movie which at just ove...

The Range Feud (1931)   3/53/53/53/53/5

64 mins     Western

Back in 1931 when "The Range Feud" was made it would have been Buck Jones who would have drawn audiences to watch yet now over 80 years later the attraction is John Wayne. But like so many of early John Wayne movies this is j...

Hell's House (1932)   3/53/53/53/53/5

72 mins     Drama

"Hell's House" sounds like an interesting movie; a young boy ends up in reform school when he keeps quiet for a bootlegger he idolises and discovers the brutal system in operation behind closed doors. It also sounds interesti...

Rain (1932)   4/54/54/54/54/5

94 mins     Drama

I wasn't born when "Rain" was released back in 1932 but from what I understand it was a flop, surprising in some ways because watching it now it is a good movie, unsurprising in others as it was a remake of a silent movie mad...

Blue Steel

Blue Steel (1934)   3/53/53/53/53/5

54 mins     Western

'Neath the Arizona Skies (1934)   2/52/52/52/52/5

52 mins     Western
