When he misses his wedding to his home town sweetheart Margaret (Betty Furness), thanks to his mischievous friends, Lucky (Fred Astaire - Follow the Fleet) decides to head to the city with his friend Pop (Victor Moore) to make $25,000 in order to marry her. But not long after arriving he meets dance instructor Penny (Ginger Rogers - The Gay Divorcee) and becomes instantly smitten with her, forming a successful dance partnership.
