The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004)

Soak It Up

When King Neptune's crown is stolen, SpongeBob and Patrick take it upon themselves to go on a quest to retrieve the missing crown before the sixth day is over. Along the way SpongeBob and Patrick have a series of encounters and having to deal with various bad guys. Meanwhile, back at Bikini Bottom someone is trying to take over which means on their return SpongeBob and Patrick must deal with them as well.

Well the day has come, I've popped my cherry, well that is popped my SpongeBob SquarePants cherry as up until watching "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" I had managed to avoid watching even a splint second of the TV series. That probably explains why "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" did next to nothing for me and truth be told the misadventures of an animated sponge made me question my own sanity at times.

But let me stop there are say this. Whilst "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" was not for me I can appreciate why it appeals to others. From quirky characters with full on voices and quick dialogue going back and fourth it has all the ingredients to be entertaining. Okay so the storyline to me seems an after thought but again the nonsensical and slim nature of it all probably works in its favour.

What this all boils down to is that "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" was not for me and found it a little too stupid for my liking. But I can appreciate why it appeals to some and can imagine young children and some adults loving all the daftness.
