Falk Hentschel and Sofia Boutella in StreetDance 2 (2012)

Strictly StreetDance

After humiliating himself big time when he puts down in a dance competition Ash (Falk Hentschel) is talked into competing again by Eddie (George Sampson) who wants to put together a crew of dancers from different continents to enter a dance off. Their journey leads them to France where they meet sexy Latin dancer Eva (Sofia Boutella)

Short and sweet was that synopsis for "StreetDance 2", shortish but boring in the only way to describe "StreetDance 2" which only targets an audience of dance fans who will sit with the remote and skip through all the scenes not involving some sort of snappy dance move, robot judder or ridiculous contortion from its good looking young cast. Now in fairness it means there is an audience for this music video, I mean movie, but I am not in that group as I am old school, the sort of move lover who require a little thing called story to keep me involved not just OTT dance moves.

Now in truth if all I cared about was how hot the stars looked and how snappy the dance scenes looked and how sexy the dancing could get when it introduces a Latin flare then I would probably be happy-ish. All the dance scenes are nicely shot with frequent use of slow motion to make the moves look all the more stunning. And there is a good soundtrack to accompany it as well. Basically it offers a new cast of good looking dancers doing the same sort of thing you will see in any other dance movie.

What this all boils down to is that "StreetDance2" did nothing for me what so ever and the lack of storyline was my major issue, although backed up with others such as dancers who can't act. But watched purely for the dancing, the ridiculous moves and body contortions it has something going for it.
