Jingle All the Way 2 (2014)

Dumbed Down All the Way

Trucker Larry (Larry the Cable Guy) loves to spend as much time with his daughter, Noel (Kennedi Clements), as he can especially since his ex wife has remarried to a guy called Victor (Brian Stepanek) as Victor wants to give Noel the greatest Christmas ever and surpass anything Larry can do. When Larry learns that Noel wants this Christmas' hottest toy and all singing and dancing toy bear he is determined to get her one. But Victor wanting to be No. 1 will do anything he can to stop him from getting one.

Despite featuring a 2 in its name "Jingle All the Way 2" is not really a sequel and not really a remake either but more a case of a movie using a similar theme as another movie. As such it has to be said that this movies first of many mistakes is setting itself up as a sequel although it probably made good financial sense with it getting more watchers than if it had called itself something more sensible.

Anyway I digress and "Jingle All the Way 2" is a simple movie as you have Larry constantly making a mess of things but wanting to do right by his daughter and then you have Victor who thinks it is a competition to be best dad and will stop at nothing to achieve it. Cue plenty of slapstick and sabotage when it comes to Larry trying to get the present and Victor trying to stop him. The thing is that if you thought the original "Jingle All the Way" was daft then this is off the scale when it comes to stupidity. Basically you really need to enjoy stupid humour, such as collecting snow in a van which of course melts by the time it has got to its destination; in fact you really need to love the dumbest of humour and the dumbest of characters to enjoy this.

What this all boils down to is that "Jingle All the Way 2 might amuse a young audience who will enjoy the stupidity of some of the humour. But those expecting a sequel or anything as polished as the original movie are likely to be severely disappointed. As for the acting, well Larry the Cable Guy does what he always does.
