Tornadoes from Outer Space
Have you heard the one about the farmer, his daughter and a climate blogger defeating tornadoes from outer space? Nope, well save yourself the time because you will not want to waste 90 minutes on "Alien Tornado" or "Tornado Warning" as it is also known. Now I am not adverse to bad movies, the fact they are not middle of the road and average usually makes them interesting and occasionally entertaining when they go past the point of being bad and become so bad they are fun. But "Alien Tornado" skips the point of being so bad its fun and becomes so bad that there is nothing worth praising in the entire movie.
In a middle of a row between farmer Judd (Jeff Fahey - Icon) and his daughter Kelly (Stacey Asaro) over her wanting to leave to go to college a strange tornado charged with electricity comes down by their farm, destroying buildings and killing animals. That is not the only one of these strange tornadoes which have their own unique set of characteristics and climate blogger Gail Curtis (Kari Wuhrer) is soon hot on their trail and making it to Judd's farm. Gail is not the only one as a small team of Government agents are also in the area and before long Gail, Judd and Kelly not only decide that there is a Government cover up going on but these tornadoes are from outer space.
There is entertaining far fetched and then there is bad far fetched and frankly the whole of "Alien Tornado" is bad far fetched from alien controlled tornadoes to Government agents who at least once are called MiB and wear the most idiotic outfits for men trying to blend in. In fact "Alien Tornado" from a storyline point of view is so bad that you end up switching off from what is happening especially when, yes you guessed it, a farmer, his daughter and the blogger end up saving the day. I don't care if that is a spoiler because this movie is so bad I don't recommend anyone watching it.
So we have a storyline about aliens, tornadoes and are trio of civilians dealing with bad guy government agents and there isn't much else. I suppose there are the special effects and action with the action being so minimal it is not worth speaking about. As for the special effects well they look fake but I suppose if I was a 9 year old boy they would maybe blow me away.
And then we have the acting, well there isn't much acting really going on because the characters are so poor. But you have to smile that we are to believe that twenty something Stacey Asaro is really a teenager just going off to college whilst Kari Wuhrer as Gail not only knows about climates but miraculously knows everything. The best thing when it comes to the acting is Jeff Fahey because at least as Judd he is almost permanently in a pissed off mood which is better than all the fake panic going on.
I could go on because "Alien Tornado" is a movie which you can rip to bits for being so poor from buildings disappearing in shots, a small team of Government officials rather than a big and so much more. In fact I think the only entertainment there is in watching "Alien Tornado" would be to compile a list of every issue.
What this all boils down to is that "Alien Tornado" is not only bad it is so bad that it skips past the point of being entertainingly bad and enters the next dimension of being beyond bad. There is not a single thing which is good about it and it is a rarity when I say do not waste your time watching this movie.
