Lyfe's Lows

Married with a daughter already and a second child on the way things are going well for David Lyfe (Keith Robinson - This Christmas). That all changes when he learns that the company he works for is making people redundant, and whilst his job is safe he has the unpleasant task of telling those on his team they are being made redundant. But then having made his friends and colleagues redundant he gets the call to say that he is also being let go. Stressed over what to do with his family increasing and having no job he heads to a bar where he ends up chatting to a woman called Amy (Erica Page). Next morning David wakes up to find himself in a bed laying next to a note from Amy who he realises he had spent the night with. Now on returning home David not only has to deal with having no job and an expanding family but also the guilt of cheating on his wife, especially when he starts getting calls from Amy, causing him to be even more on edge and cagey around his wife.

"Every cloud has a silver lining", "When one door closes, another opens" I could go on because I have a whole bag of these sayings all of which were told to me when I was made redundant for the second time having not even made it to my 30th birthday. Unfortunately it took a long time for the other door to open and in that time I ended up sleeping in my car and buying the cheapest food I could find of a night as it felt no matter what I did life kicked me in my guts. And truth be told I made some bad choices in that time as desperation kicked in and kicked out rational thoughts. I mention this because "Lyfe's Journey" is a bit like this as we see how David being made redundant leads to a bad decision and a chain of events which feel like the universe has it in for him in a bad way.

Now I am not going to delve in to too many of the specifics in "Lyfe's Journey" other than to say that we discover that there are connections between the people involved in David's downfall. What I will tell you is that "Lyfe's Journey" doesn't stop with David's life in a complete mess and as such we see how through help David is able to start to rebuild his life. The question I will leave you with is how much of his life will David be able to rebuild having been unfaithful.

Of course the real question you want answering is whether on not is "Lyfe's Journey" any good? And the answer is sort of as it has a good message and it also has solid performances from Keith Robinson and Angell Conwell. But to be honest this movie lacks some thing so that when it hooks you it keeps you hooked, as such this ends up one of those movies which in between the pivotal moments it tends to struggle to deliver anything which keeps your attention.

What this all boils down to is that "Lyfe's Journey" has a good story but it suffers from many a scene which seems to go nowhere.
