Leave on Ice

A military convoy is attacked and the special cargo that they were carrying, a female species from the Pleistocene Age in a cryogenic state is stolen. But this woman nicknamed the "Ice Queen" wakes from her cryogenic state when the equipment on a plane transporting her fails. Awake and having killed the pilot the plane crashes near to a ski resort causing an avalanche and leaving a group of tourists trapped with the dangerous Ice Queen, fighting to survive.

As "Ice Queen" opens we witness the attack on the military convoy, it is not the most polished of scenes with amateur camera work and lack of style but for a low budget movie it is not completely terrible. But a few scenes later as we hit the ski resort so that we can meet our hero, a young man called Johnny what we get served up is a wet t-shirt competition with Johnny dancing with a busty blonde in a wet t-shirt played by Jennifer Hill. It is a seriously cheap scene which might just entertain 13 year old boys who get to watch this.

Anyway all of this eventually builds to a small group of people stuck in a ski resort with this beast, a familiar set up just with a different beast and a different location. It's nothing special and with little in the shape of atmosphere and the budget capping the style it really is a low budget, poor horror. The only thing going for it is for the most the make up work on Ami Chorlton is good although I do wonder if that seems good because the rest of the movie is weak.

What this all boils down to is that "Ice Queen" is not only a low budget horror but also a poor one. It has nothing really going for it unless you are a thirteen year old boy who will probably enjoy the wet t-shirt scene.
