Cherry Tree (2015)

Didn't Pop My Cherry

For Faith her worst fear comes true when her father is told that his cancer isn't responding to treatment and he hasn't got long left. Fortunately the new hockey coach, Sissy, is there to provide Faith with some advice. The thing is that Sissy is in fact the head of a witches' coven which resides underneath an ancient cherry tree and she offers to save Faith's father if she will have a baby for her. Agreeing Faith soon falls pregnant and has to contend with her pregnancy moving along at a rapid rate but as she realises that Sissy's plans have an evil side she must make a stand against her.

I don't know what it is but when I watch a teen sex comedy and there is nudity involving the supposed teens it doesn't bother me. But when you have a horror movie, which trust me doesn't have any humour, but features actresses getting naked whilst pretending to be teens it kind of feels wrong and playing on some sort of male sexual fantasy. But I get distracted because the nudity whilst a part of "Cherry Tree" is not the movie's focus as we have a story of a witch with an evil plan and a load of weirdness involving cherries, centipedes and sacrifices none of which is that entertaining.

Look I could go on and go in to detail about what goes on in "Cherry Tree" but to be honest if you have seen one movie involving a witch up to no good with a pregnant individual then you should be able to guess what you get in here. You also get some I suppose they were meant to be freaky masks but were more wrong than anything and basically the more I sit here trying to muster any enthusiasm for this horror the less enthusiastic I get.

What this all boils down to is that "Cherry Tree" did very little for me and failed to grab me with anything close to horror or atmosphere. In fact what I will remember this for is feeling uncomfortable with the nudity.
