Beavis and Butt-Head Do America (1996)

Scraping the Butt of the Barrel

After realising that they have been staring at an empty space after their TV was stolen, Beavis and Butt-Head go in search of a replacement. There journey leads them to being mistaken for a pair of killers who get hired by a dangerous man to head to L.A. to murder his wife. It leads to them being hunted by an FBI agent whilst the dumb as f@ck duo find themselves doing the tourist thing with an old lady as their journey takes them from one state to another.

A few years back a girlfriend I was dating tried to switch me on to "Beavis and Butt-Head", she failed and some time later so did out relationship. I have tried a couple of times since to understand what so many people enjoyed when watching "Beavis and Butt-Head" and have never got it. I've even endured "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" in some sort of enlightenment to what it is made them popular and nope I just don't get it.

Okay so we have this mishap strewn road trip as Beavis and Butt-Head find themselves tricked in to assisting an arms dealer to sneak in a chemical weapon and having little adventures along the way. But what we have is 81 minutes of moronic activity from causing a flood with automatic urinals to the dumb duo ending up on a bus with chicks or at least full of nuns. Maybe if I was 15 this would appeal but for me after about 5 minutes the moronic amusement has warn off and that is the thing, in short bursts the humour works but continuous for 81 minutes arduous minutes of Beavis and Butt-Head sniggering when wood is mentioned is weak.

What this all boils down to is that "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America" just doesn't work for me and it is a case that it is just too moronic for my liking. But I can see that maybe for a teen audience the moronic comedy will appear to be funnier.
